Leonor “Bebe” Bahr of Topeka, KS, 87, went to eternal rest on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Bebe was born in Chicago, IL on August 25, 1933 the daughter of Jose and Virginia (Villafranco) Duran. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and Clarks Business School.
Bebe worked as Secretary at the US. Department of Agriculture, the Postal Inspector’s office at the U.S. Post Office, and retired as a Supervisor in maintenance for the U.S Post Office. After her retirement, she was the Office Manager at Mt. Calvary Cemetery for over 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society and volunteering for the Fiesta Mexicana where she was a dancer in her younger years. Her hobbies included, playing bunco, bingo, cooking and reading. Bebe enjoyed having lunch with her friends, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
On April 18, 1963, Bebe married Leroy Bahr in Topeka, KS. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband Leroy, a daughter Raquel Bahr (Jason Heim), and grandchildren Zaylee Sherwood, Mena Heim, and Ciaran Heim. Bebe is preceded in death by her children Leroy Bahr, Jr. on Nov. 21, 1964, and Kathlene Sue Bahr on July 29, 1984. She is also survived by her siblings, Jose Duran, Frank (Rosa) Duran, Rosemary Davalos, Virginia (Jeff) Manley, Yolanda (Alva) Bowyer, and Judy (Tom) Soza. She was preceded in death by siblings, Gonzalo Duran on Nov. 25, 1999 and Arthur Duran on June 15, 2020.
Bebe will lie in state at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, August 12th from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. where a Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
