Linda Kay McNeece

Linda Kay McNeece, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus.

She was born August 2, 1948, in Topeka, to Lee Sommer and Bonnie Jean Buress Sommer. Linda graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1966.

Linda worked as a keypunch operator for BNSF Railway. She retired in September of 2009.

She enjoyed reading books, spending time with friends and family, sending cards to loved ones for special occasions, cooking and baking. Linda owned a horse “Bahba” for 26 years, and he brought her great joy riding and taking care of him.

Linda married James Richard McNeece on March 20, 1971, at Westside Baptist Church in Topeka. Jim survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Jordan McNeece of Topeka; and close friends Wilma Naylor of Missouri, Vicki Wilson of Holton, and Shari Mccammon of Tecumseh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Randy Hummer.

A visitation with the family will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, December 18, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 11:00am, Thursday, December 19, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Entombment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
