Lois J. Winter, age 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Oakley Place in Rossville, KS.
She was born the daughter of Albert E. and Lora H. (Conkright) Sharp on a farm near Milford, KS, on September 22, 1933.
Lois married Robert W. Winter on June 5, 1953, in Topeka, KS. They shared 33 years of marriage before Bob passed away on July 1, 1986. Lois’s working career included 30 plus years as a bookkeeper for Kansas Secured Title. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was a devout perpetual adoration member for 35 years.
Throughout the years, Lois enjoyed traveling, aqua aerobics and staying active. She loved to play games, especially Farkle with her grandchildren. She was the happiest when spending time with her family while having a glass of wine. In her later years, Lois stayed active through volunteering with different organizations and with Catholic Social Services.
Survivors include her four sons, Mike Winter and his wife TK, Jeff Winter and his wife Diane, Patrick Winter and his wife Allison, and Max Winter and his wife Bonnie; two daughters, Pam Winter, and Jan Kulick and her husband Jeff. Other survivors include her 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; granddaughter, Ashley Winter; two brothers, Lauren and Dean Sharp; and two sisters, Wilma Sharp and Sharlie Funk.
Lois will lie in state on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5-8:00 P.M., with a parish rosary at 5:30 P.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lois's memory to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, American Diabetes Association, and/or American Cancer Society. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
