Luis A. Alejos

Luis A. Alejos, age 87, of Topeka, KS, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

He was born the son of Jose Sergio and Felicitas (Monasterio) Alejos on July 21, 1934, in Topeka, KS.

Luis was a 1953 graduate from Hayden High School. He served his country with pride in the United States Air Force. He married Charlotte Adel Rice on October 14, 1957, at Church of the Assumption in Topeka. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage before Charlotte’s passing on July 19, 2020.

Luis and Charlotte owned and operated Major Appliance in Topeka. Luis enjoyed photography, working at the appliance shop, watching westerns, and staying up with current events. In his younger years, he enjoyed sports and excelled in baseball. His faith, family, and dedicated work ethic brought him the greatest joy. He was a longtime member of Mater Dei Parish.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Alejos and his wife Karen of Bedford, TX, David Alejos and his wife Paula of Topeka, and John Alejos and his wife Allison of Topeka; as well as 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Leo Alejos, Richard Alejos and his wife Maxine, Robert Alejos and his wife Candy, Henry Alejos and his wife Jolly, and Phillip Alejos; two sisters, Rosemary Fontane and her husband Freddy, and Anna Decker; and one sister-in-law, Lee Alejos.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte; son, Paul Alejos; two grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel Alejos; two brothers, Manual and Auggie Alejos; and two sisters, Mary Barrientos and Pat Thompson.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 9:00-9:30 A.M., followed by a parish rosary at 9:30 A.M., at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., at the church. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Luis's memory to Mater Dei Parish. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
