Margaret Lee, 100, of Topeka, passed away on July 31, 2023, at Lexington Park Assisted Living.
She was born on a farm in Olpe, Kansas on August 8, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Hattie (Bergmann) Dreier. She attended St.
Joseph grade school and high school in Olpe Kansas.
Margaret worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Welch and in 1951, she worked for the Topeka State Hospital in that same capacity for 35 years, where she was referred to as “Maggie”.
She was a founding member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and later at Christ the King Catholic Church. While at Christ the King, she was involved with Eucharistic Adoration, was a Eucharistic Minister and coordinator of the Prayer Network. She did volunteer work for St. Francis Hospital. Margaret was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 for 64 years, and held various offices.
Margaret belonged to the Pitch and Pinochle Card Group, which she organized in 1980 at Christ the King Catholic Church. She and her family enjoyed boating at the Tuttle Creek Reservoir with their friends, the Young family. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed canning. Margaret enjoyed traveling with her sister and took annual trips to Florida, did Mystery Trips, went on cruises, and treated herself to a retirement trip to Rome.
She married Floyd Harold Lee on May 7, 1949, in Olpe, Kansas and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1999. She is survived by her children; Jennifer (Larry) Parnell, Alan (Deborah) Lee, Robert E. (Karon) Lee, Juanita (Stuart) Breeding, seven grandchildren; Sean Stowell, Zach (Natalie) Parnell, Becky (Jim) Ratcliffe, Nick Breeding, Austin (Bethany) Lee, Clint (Brandy) Lee, Abbey (Blaine) Dreyer, 12 great grandchildren and a sister Dolores Ward. Margaret also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents and four siblings, Elizabeth Miller, Frances Dreier, Raymond Dreier and Robert Dreier.
Margaret will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., where her family will receive friends and a Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Thursday, August 3rd, at 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
