Marie “Trina” Kolean, 73, of Topeka, KS died Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at her home.
Trina was born November 11, 1945 in Topeka, the daughter of Gilbert A. Herrera, Sr. and Frances (Sanchez) Herrera.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Trina was a Membership Auditor at Blue Cross and Blue Shield retiring after 24 years. After retirement she worked as a Paraprofessional for Unified School District #501.
In Trina’s younger years she enjoyed playing tennis and dancing and spend many days being her son's biggest fan while he was on the ball diamond. But her greatest love was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her father Gilbert A. Herrera Sr., a son, Eric (Kellee) Kolean of Topeka, two sisters, Rosemary Herrera of Vancouver, WA, Virginia Wathen of Tulsa, OK, two brothers, Gilbert (Lynn) Herrera, Jr., Christopher (Jeni) Herrera, and sister-in-law, Yvonne Herrera all of Topeka. A granddaughter, Berlyn Kolean and a grandson, Beckam Kolean also survive. Trina also leaves behind all of her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard "Bernie" Herrera in 2011 and her mother, Frances Herrera in 2012.
Trinia will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Following the rosary, the family will receive friends until 6:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
