Marilyn J. Trechter

Marilyn J. Trechter, age 74, of Topeka, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Oak Creek Senior Living in Topeka.

She was born the daughter of Henry A. and Virginia L. (Ruggels) Trechter on April 5, 1952, in Topeka, KS. Marilyn was a 1970 graduate from Luckey High School in Manhattan. She furthered her education and obtained her bachelor's degree in social work from Kansas State University. This led to her career as a direct care professional in social work for the State of Kansas. 

Marilyn was a devout Catholic, serving as a Lay Associate for the Congregation of St. Joseph as well as the Ursuline Sisters.  She dedicated her life serving others and to her faith. 

Survivors include her sister, Sara Trechter of California; nephew, Daniel Trechter; as well as other relatives, friends, and those dear to her at Oak Creek Assisted Living. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Stephen, Timothy L. and Mark C. Trechter; as well as two infant brothers; and sister-in-law, Cathy Trecther  

A memorial visitation will be held from 9-10:00 A.M., followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A graveside Rite of Committal Service will be held at 1:30 P.M., at St. Patrick's Cemetery east of Manhattan on Highway 24 and Excel Road, where Marilyn will be laid to rest with her mother and father.
