Marion A. Desch, age 90, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born the daughter of Nickolas and Pauline “Lena” (Schiffelbein) Pfannenstiel on August 17, 1931, in Ness City, KS.
Marion married Jerome W. Desch on May 18, 1949. Jerome passed away on October 8, 2000. They shared 51 years of marriage.
She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Marion had helped with Germanfest, funeral luncheons, retirement dinners, church choir, Legion of Mary, and altar society. She was also very passionate about being an advocate for Right To Life of Topeka and Lets Help.
In her spare time, Marion enjoyed volunteering, embroidery, seamstress and baking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her faith.
Survivors include her three sons, Daniel G. Desch and his wife Jayne, Gary L. Desch and his wife Pam, Steven G. Desch and his wife Susan; two daughters, Diane G. Staab and her husband Dennis, Nancy A. Shrewsbury and her husband Jim; daughter-in-law, Debbie Desch. Her eight grandchildren, Erin, Katelyn, John, Jr., Sarah, Christi, Hannah, Nick, and Kyle survive, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Elouise, Ruby, Jacob, Ethan, Harlowe, Henley, with an additional great-grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; two sons, Michael Desch and infant son, John Desch; two daughters, Geralyn Frederick and Geri Ann Wardein; one brother, Edward Pfannenstiel; two infant sisters and three granddaughters, Rachelle, Amber and Andrea.
She will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 9-10:00 A.M., followed by a parish rosary at 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Right To Life of Kansas, 214 SW 6th Ave., #208, Topeka, KS 66603 and/or Midland Care Connection, 200 SW Frazier Circle, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
