Marlene E. Sinnott, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024.
A longtime resident of Topeka, Kansas, Marlene was born in Seneca to Andrew Haverkamp and Melita Melcher Haverkamp. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Scholastica College where she met her husband, Stan Sinnott, who preceded her in death. Together, they lovingly raised their five children: Joan Noller (Barry), Kathy Sinnott, Christy Sinnott (Chris), Mike Sinnott (Krista), and Maria Sinnott. Marlene found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Joe Noller (Katie), Sara Noller (Sean Cesare), and Molli Hardy (Jordan), and as a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, with a sixth expected soon. She was also a loving sister to her brothers: Marvin Haverkamp (Cory), C.E. Haverkamp, and Terry Haverkamp (Michele); she was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Haverkamp and sisters-in-law Jackie Haverkamp and Beka Haverkamp.
Marlene resided at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Lawrence, Kansas, where she continued to brighten the lives of those around her.
Marlene will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and deep faith. Her cherished community at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church in Topeka provided her with strength, support, and love over many years.
Many in Topeka will fondly recall Marlene’s dedication as a volunteer at the Topeka Public Library, where she served as a Library Concierge for over 15 years. Her love of books and passion for reading made her a proud and valued member of the library community.
Marlene’s family will honor her remarkable life with a Catholic Mass at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church on March 22nd at 10am, followed by a Christian burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice or the Topeka Public Library, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 West 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas.
