Martha "Marty" J. Reck

Martha “Marty” J. Reck, age 74, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital.

She was born the daughter of G. Wayne and Berniece (Mans) Reck on December 31, 1946, in Salina, KS. 

Marty received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Kansas State University in 1970. She had worked as a Dietary Manager for local nursing homes.  Marty was an avid reader and coffee lover. She always had a book and a cup of coffee with her wherever she went.  She loved trying out new restaurants with family and friends. She enjoyed building puzzles with her grandkids and treating them to cookies every visit.  Marty was a devoted member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Her greatest passions included volunteering for many years with Birthright of Topeka and being involved in the Glory to God community at her church.  Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be dearly missed. 

Survivors include her son, Adam Reck and his wife Allysa; four beloved grandchildren, Asher, Ezra, Isaiah and Rosalie Reck; and one sister, Mary Pat Post; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne L. Homman; brother-in-law, Randall Post; and niece, Wendy Post. 

Visitation will be held at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 4-8:00 P.M., with a parish rosary at 6:00 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 30, at 10:00 A.M. A graveside service will take place at 3:00 P.M., at the Calvary Cemetery in Brookville, KS.
