Mary Jane Burnett, 83, of Topeka, died February 1, 2019 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 8, 1935 the daughter of George F. and Elizabeth Emma (Engroff) Kaberline. Mary Jane was a 1953 graduate of Hayden High School.
Mary Jane worked in the title industry for over 50 years retiring from Kansas Secured Title.
She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, St. Michael Guild at the church, and was a prayer partner at the school. Mary Jane was also a member of the Newcomers, Junquers Travel Group and was active with the Christian Youth Organization in her young adult life. She enjoyed playing BUNCO, and card groups at her church and was also an avid KU Basketball fan.
Mary Jane married Larry David Burnett at St. Joseph Catholic Church on May 26, 1962. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by a daughter Ann (Mark) Pennel of Lenexa, Kansas, two grandsons, Zachary and Blake, her niece Kathy (Jim) Feyh and many other loving nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents, a brother Paul Kaberline and a sister, Louise “Dolly” Slaton.
Mary Jane will lie in state at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Restoration Fund or St. Matthew Catholic Church and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
