Mary Pat Spain

Mary Patricia “Mary Pat” Spain, 80, of Topeka, passed away on April 27, 2022, at McCrite Plaza.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 17, 1941, the daughter of Raymond and Rosemary (Drouhard) Weidner.

Mary Pat worked as a Bookkeeper for an Accounting firm.

Her family, grandchildren and her faith were most important to her.  She always made Christmas special for everyone. 

Mary Pat married Dennis Spain on February 27, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. Together, they shared 62 loving years of marriage.  He survives her.  She is also survived by three sons; John Spain and his wife Lori, Jerry Spain and his wife Kathy, Tim Spain and his wife Karen, her grandchildren; Christopher Spain and wife Clare and their child Jade, Benjamin Spain, Lauren Spain, Corinne Spain, Jacob Spain, Joel Spain and wife Peyton and their child Lillian, Nathaniel Spain and Claire Spain. She is also survived by a brother, Steve Weidner and a sister, Jeanne Payne, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and a sister Gretchen Cox.

She will lie in state from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Monday, May 2, 2022, with a rosary at 5:30 P.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, May 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow after the services and a private inurnment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Mary Pat's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or Mary's Choices, 551 NW Broad St., Topeka, KS 66608. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
