Norman Theodore Kaufman, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born November 6, 1940, south of Dorrance, Kansas, to Fred Kaufman and Rose Cook Kaufman. Norman graduated from Dorrance High School in 1958 and went on to attend Hutchinson County Community College and Ft. Hays State University.
Norman married Joan Marie Thielen in Russell, Kansas in 1963. She survives of the home.
He worked as a route salesman for Sunbeam, Butter Krust, and Guy’s Snacks.
Norman was a devoted member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and prayed in the Adoration Chapel for 29 years. He enjoyed gardening and bird watching. He also followed the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, and KU. He attended Washburn football and basketball games regularly since 1963.
Survivors include his children, Michael Kaufman (Leslie) of Topeka, Sheri Shoemaker (Darryn) of Olathe, Anne Kaufman of Topeka, and Donna Gebhardt (Jon) of Junction City; a brother, Marlyn “Sonny” Kaufman of Russell; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation with the family will be 9:00am to 10:00am, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
