Opal Elizabeth Foster, 94, of St. Marys, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at her home.
She was born August 10, 1930, in Drexel, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond Gentry and Esther Lennia (Strom) Gentry. She graduated from Drexel High School and went on to earn a degree in cosmetology from the House of Heavilin Beauty College, in Kansas City.
Opal was a homemaker and devoted Catholic. Her faith was very important to her. She was also very talented with embroidery.
She married Richard L. Foster, May 3, 1952, and they shared 33 years together. He passed away on June 8, 1985.
Survivors include her children: Debbie (Jim) Rosewell, Teresa (Roland) Cretel, Connie (Tony) Skevington, Richard (Connie) Foster, Anna Foster, Robert (Patty) Foster, Steve (Adrienne) Foster, Kenny Foster, Sister Jeanne d’Aza, Christine (Kelly) Inglin. She is also survived by her brother, George Gentry and sisters, Susie Rosco and Sandy Gentry and her 53 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Regina and Jennifer, and her son, Phillip. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Zelma Gentry, Betty Morgan, Lois Ann Holtz, Corky Gentry and Kenny Gentry.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00am, Monday, August 26, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, with interment immediately following.
