Otis R. Gosser, 85, of Topeka, died November 11, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 17, 1933 the son of Lee Otis and Kate (Smith) Gosser.
Otis served his country in the United States Air Force where he retired on March 31, 1971 as a TSGT after 20 years of service. After retirement from the military he owned and operated Gosser’s Auto Electric for many years.
He enjoyed making custom furniture for his family, was interested in cars and airplanes, and was an avid KU Basketball and Kentucky Basketball fan. He was a member of the Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW and a life member of the American Legion.
Otis married Rosemary Curran on April 23, 1955 at the Assumption Church in Topeka. She survives of the home. He is also survived by four sons, Michael Gosser of Topeka, Christopher (Kristi) Gosser of Auburn, Gregory Gosser of Topeka and Thomas Gosser of Auburn, five grandchildren, Stafford Gosser, Caleb Gosser, Joshua Gosser, Shannon Akers, and Lucas Gosser and two great granddaughters, Sadie and Macy Akers. He is survived by three sisters, Doris (Othal) Rogers of Versailles, KY, Norma Dobbs of Hillsboro, Ohio and Nancy Overbey of Loveland, Ohio.
Otis was preceded in death by a son Raymond Gosser and his wife Laura, a daughter-in-law Lisa Gosser, and a brother Russell Turner.
Otis will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Big Springs, Kansas immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Midland Hospice Care or the Combat Air Museum at Forbes, and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
