Patricia Josephine Coker

Patricia Josephine (Mercier) Coker, 83, of Topeka, passed away on December 5, 2022, at the Presbyterian Manor of Topeka.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 18, 1939, the daughter of Lawrence Patrick and Juanita (Donigan) Mercier.

Pat was a day care provider in her home for over 45 years. 

She was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church where she assisted with funeral dinners and was a member of the Holy Family Guild.  Pat was a very social person who enjoyed talking to family and friends on the phone and was also a great cook. 

She married Walter Lee Coker on February 16, 1963, in Valley Falls, Kansas.  He survives.  She is also survived by a son, Greg Coker (Yolanda Dickinson) and daughter Paula Auten (Deacon David Auten), a sister Mary Beth Hunter, brother Kevin Mercier, three grandchildren; Brent Coker, Paige Auten and Bailey (Ben) Carr, and four great grandchildren; Katelynn Domme, Raiden Coker, Addalyn Carr and Olivia Carr.

Pat was preceded in death by a son, Mark Coker, her brother, Larry Mercier and her parents.

Pat will lie in state at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Graveside services will be held on at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at St. Marys Cemetery in Valley Falls, Kansas.
