Raymond P. Flores, age 71, of Topeka, KS, passed away on September 14, 2020 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
He was born in Topeka, Kansas on January 11, 1949 the son of John C. and Josephine (Garcia) Flores.
Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired as a Scheduler for the Kansas Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Raymond’s interests included reading, gardening, watching old silent movies especially those with Charlie Chaplin. He was a KC Chiefs fan, and a great cook specializing in chilé meat. He loved music, playing the Accordion and Bass. He was a longtime band member, playing for the Paradise Band. He will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed his grandchildren and also loved animals.
Raymond married Eloise Galvan in Topeka, Kansas on September 2, 1972. They shared 48 years of marriage and she survives him. He is also survived by three children, Anthony “Tony” Flores and wife Ivona, Michael J. Flores and wife Sarah, Nicholas S. Flores, a brother Richard Flores, sister, Rose Gallego and husband Peter, sister-in-law Phyllis Flores, and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Frankie and Daniel Cruz Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Flores.
He will lie in state at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, September 17th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association or Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
