Robert L. Campos, 73, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born to Conrad and Joaquina Campos on August 12, 1948 in Topeka, KS.
While a lifelong resident of Topeka, Bob was a frequent visitor to many beautiful places in Mexico. He joined the US Marines Corp in 1966 and proudly served his country as a combat veteran in Vietnam. Returning from war presented Bob with a different outlook on life, family, and comradery. He earned his teaching degree from Washburn University and his master’s degree from Wichita State University. He spent his entire teaching career with Topeka Public Schools, teaching Spanish, before enjoying retirement.
Bob enjoyed watching KU basketball, traveling, especially to Puebla, Mexico, and spending time working out at the gym with his friends. He volunteered at the VA Hospital and at Our Lady of Guadalupe church these past few years, running the beer tent for Fiesta Mexicana.
Bob is survived by his sisters Olivia (Peter) Ortiz of Topeka, Rosie (Joe) Crowe-Campos of Minnesota, and Susie Rodriguez of Topeka, his brothers, Tony Campos of Colorado, and Andy and John Campos of Topeka, as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his good friend and cousin, Jerry Toledo.
Honoring Bob’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
