Robert Duane “Bob” Fritton, 83, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born September 6, 1940, in Topeka, the youngest of 6 children to Charles Joseph Fritton and Louise M. (Werner) Fritton.
Robert graduated from Topeka High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in Panama and worked with the boy scouts, teaching archery and canoeing.
He worked for General Printing, Graphic Promotions, and the State of Kansas division of printing. He retired in 2006.
He enjoyed archery, dancing, and driving his Mini Cooper. Of his many accomplishments, Robert was the state archery barebow champion in 1967. He was a long-time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Bob was the "mayor" of Shawnee Meadows north, planning many of the areas activities including a yearly 4th of July parade started in 1976.
Robert married Ruth Ann Bombardier on August 26, 1967, in Minneapolis, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jason Fritton of Overland Park, Kansas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Evelyn White, Charlene Trimble, Clemet Fritton, Marjorie Johnson, and James Fritton.
A visitation with the family will be 9:30-10:30am, with a rosary prayed at 10:30am and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Thursday, May 16, 2024, at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
