Rose Gallego, age 82, of Topeka, KS, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, January 7, 2022.
She was born the daughter of John and Josephine (Garcia) Flores on September 15, 1939, in Topeka, KS.
On May 12, 1969, Rose married Peter G. Gallego in Topeka, KS. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage.
Rose was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Altar Society, Legion of Mary, and Daughters of Isabella-Little Flower Circle #503. She and her husband would lead prayer groups, taught Baptism and pre-marriage classes. Rose was a longtime Eucharistic Minister, volunteer with the Fiesta Mexicana and was part of Adoration with Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church for 30 plus years and took care of cleaning the church linens. Throughout her life, Rose enjoyed needle pointing, sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, music, and dancing. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, cook and baker. Family was the upmost importance to her, and she loved spending time with all her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Gallego; son, John Gallego; four daughters, Josie Torrez and her husband Gus, Cathryn Seifert, Lucy Miera and Susan Cunningham; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Flores.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Flores; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Torrez.
Rose will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a rosary being recited at 5:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, January 13, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
