San Juana “Janie” Lira, 66, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Rolling Hills Retirement Community.
She was born December 31, 1957, in Topeka, to Guadalupe M. Lira and Guadalupe Lopez Lira.
San Juana loved animals and enjoyed crocheting and painting.
She was involved with TARC and the Capper Foundation.
Survivors include her siblings, Gonzalo Lira of Topeka, Fernando Lira and wife Carroll of Topeka, Andrea Gonzales and husband Albert of Topeka, Maria A. Ortega of Topeka, Angie Lira of Topeka, Richard Lira of Kansas City, Pam Martinez and husband Augustine of Topeka, and Mario Lira of Topeka; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Guadalupe Lira, Jr., Maria D. Tetuan, Jenny Lopez, and Carol Lira.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday, January 6, 2025, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, with a rosary prayed at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery- Topeka.
