Sandra Joy Nelson-Mayo

Sandra Joy Nelson-Mayo, 63, of Auburn, KS, passed away on June 16, 2019 at the House at Midland Care. She was born in Salina, Kansas on May 14, 1956 the daughter of David Allen and Elizabeth Jane (Schneider) Nelson. She worked as an LPN and enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and helping others. She married Michael Patrick Mayo on September 23, 1987 at the First Lutheran Church in Topeka. He survives her of the home. Other survivors include her daughters, Danielle Mayo and Elizabeth Mayo (Cory) all of Auburn; step-son, Christopher Mayo of Topeka; her mother, Jane Nelson of Topeka; brother, Daniel Nelson and a sister, Rebecca Nelson both of Topeka; two granddaughters, Alaina Avila and Hadlie Sova. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, David. Sandra will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage.
