Serene Autumn Balfour

Serene Autumn Balfour-Cooper, age 41, formerly of Sacramento, CA, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in Topeka. 

She was born the daughter of Ron Balfour and Melissa Campen-Smith on August 29, 1983, in Sacramento, CA. 

Serene was a beautiful soul that cared deeply for others. She loved to help not only people but animals as well. She was a server in the restaurant industry and took great pride in “serving” people. Being raised in the Bay Area of California, Serene enjoyed watching all sports teams and attending sporting events. While in Kansas, she grown to be a fan of the KU Jayhawks and Sporting KC soccer team. 

The stars aligned when she met Brian Matthew Cooper. Together, they enjoyed attending sporting events, helping people together and sharing a deep love for one another. On August 24, 2023, she and Brian married in Las Vegas, NV. Although Serene leaves this earth, we take comfort for the memories she shared, the smiles, and the kindness she displayed in her 41 years.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Brian Matthew Cooper; her father, Ron and his wife April Balfour; her mother, Melissa Campen-Smith and her husband Westin Smith; two stepsons, Ranulfo Jonathan Cooper and Amber Marie Cooper. Other survivors include her father-in-law, Bruce Milton Cooper and a sister-in-law, Amber Marie Cooper.

Serene was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Beverly Balfour and Edna Aimes.

Cremation has taken place.
