Steven "Steve" A. Reese, Jr., age 47, of Topeka, KS, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
He was born the son of Steven A. Reese, Sr., and Linda J. (Bryan) Jenssen on February 27, 1976, in Lawrence, KS.
Steve met, fell in love and married Debra Vasquez in Topeka, KS, on March 29, 2013. Together, they shared 10 years of marriage.
The greatest joy and heart-warming moments were when Steve would be with his granddaughters. He loved all his family and friends, but his granddaughters brought him unmeasured love. He will be dearly missed. Steve enjoyed playing frisbee golf, playing pool and cheering the loudest for his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, KU Jayhawks and the Kansas City Royals. His most recent employment was as an Over the Road Truck Driver, a career he truly enjoyed. He would often call his family and friends while spending time traveling the open road, often sending photos of his trucking adventures. When Steve was not working or cheering for his favorite sports team, you could find him with the biggest smile, spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Debra Reese; daughter, Le-Asa Woods; son, Jaden Rawlings; stepdaughter, Rachael Hutcherson; stepson, James Stephenson; father and stepmother, Steven A. Reese, Sr. (Kelly); mother and stepfather, Linda Jenssen (Darryl); sister, Maria Robinson (Nate); brother, James Reese (Krystal); sister, Brandy Thomas; sister, Erin Seib (Jonathan); brother, Kevin Reese. Other survivors include his precious granddaughters, Nona Bernthal and Samina Gee, as well as a loving extended family that includes many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Although our hearts are weighing heavy during this difficult time, we can find comfort that we all have so many memories, stories, and wonderful times with him. Those are the things that we will cherish forever.
