Susan "Sue" J. Krische

Susan “Sue” J. Krische, age 79, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Midland Hospice House due to complications from spinocerebellar ataxia.

Sue was born the daughter of Philip J. and Catherine A. (Kennedy) Cunningham on October 23, 1943, in Topeka, KS. She graduated from Hayden High School in 1961.

On November 25, 1965, Thanksgiving Day, Sue was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Krische at Holy Name Catholic Church. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Sue’s hobbies included playing Bridge, and being involved in a book club and the Topeka Symphony. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking and her faithful devotion to her Catholic faith. Sue was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

When Sue’s three son’s where all in school, she went back to school, and through many late nights studying, she received her B.S. in English from Washburn University in 1980, an accomplishment she was very proud of while raising her family. For 22 years, she worked for the State Legislature; 16 of those years was working in the State Senate President’s Office and for 12 years worked as the Chief of Staff to three Senate Presidents. Sue was a dedicated and respected employee in the State of Kansas Legislature.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Larry Krische; three sons, John Krische and his wife Lisa, Matt Krische and his wife Katie, and Dan Krische and his wife Amanda; as well as seven grandchildren, Julia, Ellen, Sam, Ben, Anna, Luke, and Simon. Other survivors include her two sisters, Mary Peters and her husband John, and Carol Gartner and her husband Ken.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Patrick Cunningham.

Sue will lie in state from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., with a parish rosary at 6:30 P.M., on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Sue's memory to Christ the King Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
