Sylvester D Negrete

Sylvester D. (Beto) Negrete of Topeka, Kansas took his heavenly journey July 29, 2023 at the age of 86.

Sylvester was born December 31, 1936, son of Rodolfo Negrete and Natalia Alonzo Negrete.

He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959.  He worked at the VA Hospital for 26 years.

On October 1st, 1960, Sylvester and Rosalie Ramos were united in marriage.  They were blessed to have almost 63 years together.  She survives of the home.

Sylvester enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing.  He enjoyed playing bingo, babysitting and being surrounded by many young people completed him.  Everyone was his Cuz.

Sylvester took pride in his church and cleaning the church with friend Artie Gonzales.  He served as an usher for many years.  He was always willing to help in any way he could with fundraisers, queen candidate food sales, bread sales, etc. or by volunteering at the annual fiesta.

He is also survived by three sons, Anthony "Tony" wife Kim, Eric, Christopher "Chris" wife Lisa; five granddaughters who are the joys of his life, Nicole Negrete (Eric Mosier), Lauren Denison (Nick), Clarissa Negrete (Taurean Hamm), Erin Negrete, and Natalie Negrete; five great granddaughters who also held a special place in his heart, Lilly and Reagan, Brinley, Morgan, and Charlotte; sisters, Angelina Lucero (Bill Lucero deceased), Delores Perez (David Perez), Elizabeth Treadwell (Benny Treadwell deceased), Martha Conner (Curt Conner deceased), Rosemary Villalobos (Adam); and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by both parents, brothers, Rudolph, Norman, and Danny.  

Sylvester will lie in state Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, August 7, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
