Valentina Guerrero, 89, of Topeka, died March 21, 2022, in Topeka at home with family by her side.
She was born the daughter of Gonzalo and Avelina (Ramirez) Romero on February 14, 1933, in Lawrence, KS.
She married Michael Guerrero on May 4, 1957, in Lawrence, Kansas. They shared 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2015.
She was a dedicated mother and devout Catholic. Her faith and family were of the upmost importance to her. She was a stay-at-home mother who also provided day care for other children while her children were young and after they were older, she worked for the state and at a restaurant managed by a brother-in-law, along with two of her sisters. She was a long-time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, providing food for funerals for years and rarely missing her daily rosary. Spending time with family brought her the greatest joy.
She is survived by her children: Renee (Duane) Aragon of Littleton, Colorado, Danielle (Chris) Gomez of Topeka, and Eric (Yang) Guerrero, of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Phillip, Kristen (Brady), Peter, Nicholas, Michael, William and Josh; two great-grandchildren: Braxton and Kaylee; four sisters: Teresa (Fred) Martinez, Phyllis Gutierrez, Lorrie (Sluggo) Alcala, and Becky (Richard) Stephens; three brothers: Pedro (Ana) Romero, Ricky (Sue) Romero, and Omar (Sharon) Romero; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Valentina is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Hernandez and Alberta Gutierrez, and four brothers: Frank, Tony, Joe, and Guadalupe Romero.
Tina will lie in state from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by a parish rosary at 7:00 P.M., on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia Ave., Topeka, KS 66605. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka. Family kindly asks those in attendance, to please wear a mask for the visitation and services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Tina's loving memory to St. Matthew Catholic Church and/or Midland Hospice Care. Contributions can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
