Virginia M. Padilla-Lara

Virginia M. Padilla-Lara, age 80, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

She was born the daughter of Jose Joaquin and Paula (Luna) Padilla on November 30, 1942, in Topeka, KS. Virginia graduated from Hayden High School and retired in 2003, after 30 plus years with the Department of Health and Environment for the State of Kansas.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Virginia was an avid reader and in her spare time, she enjoyed working on Diamond Art Projects. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to her neighbors and friends in the La Colonia Community.

Survivors include her sister, Juanita Padilla; and a brother, Louis Padilla. Other survivors include a loving extended family of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Virginia is preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Frank Sr., and Alfonso Padilla; three sisters, Antonia Martinez, Sister Margarita Padilla SCL, and Severina Padilla.

Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., followed by a parish rosary at 10:30 A.M., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M., at the church. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.

Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
