Virginia A. Limke, age 90, of Topeka, passed away on May 15, 2019 at Oak Creek Senior Living in Topeka. Virginia was born on February 6, 1929 to Charles and Alice (Schrieber) Schmidt in Alma, KS. She married Leonard Limke on November 24, 1948 in Topeka. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage before Leonard’s passing in 2001.Virginia was a homemaker and the mother of two sons and two daughters. She worked at the Unemployment Office for the State of Kansas and retired in 1991. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Firefighters Auxiliary and volunteered at Sacred Heart helping cook lunches. Virginia was always busy with 4 kid’s activities. She enjoyed doing many crafts including sewing, ceramics, knitting, plastic needle point and many others. After retirement, she and Leonard traveled for pleasure and to see how many different states they could visit and chase down different family members. She was working on her family’s genealogy. Virginia is a two times breast cancer survivor. Virginia is survived by her children, Cindy Clifton, William Limke, Debbie Grace (Tom) and Bob Limke (Debbie) all of Topeka; two step-brothers, William Treu (Mary) and Art Treu (Dee); seven grandchildren, Bob Clifton (Cathy), Tom Grace, Jr., Colleen Truhe, Heather Limke, Ben Grace (Lori), Christina Hopkins (Jeremiah), and Brett Limke as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; brother, Lee Schmidt and step-brother, Joe Treu. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Memorial Visitation will be held one-hour prior from 10-11:00 A.M., with the Parish Rosary at 10:30 A.M., all at the church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia’s loving memory to Interim Healthcare & Hospice and/or American Breast Cancer Foundation. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
