Wilma B. Rabe, age 99, died at Brookside Manor, Overbrook, KS, on March 2, 2021. She was born at Silver Lake, KS, on July 5, 1921, the daughter of John W. and Daisy M. Boyles Luthye.
She was a lifelong member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church. She attended public schools in Silver Lake and Kansas State University.
She worked in the catalogue department of J.C. Penney’s, and for the Crosby Department Store for 20 years as a personal shopper and bridal consultant until the store closed in 1975. After that, she was the office manager for the law firm of Schroeder, Heeney, Groff, and Coffman until her retirement in 1985.
Wilma was married to William Conaway and later to Paul C. Rabe. She had three children, Julia Ann Sandone, Sandra Kay Butler, and William E. Conaway, Jr., a sister, Bernice Boyles, and grandson, Mark Butler, all of whom predeceased. Wilma is survived by grandsons, John Chappell and Richard Conaway.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside inurnment will be on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
