Antonio "Tony" Galvan, age 67, of Topeka, KS, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Tony was born the son of Basilio H. and Maria (Tabares) Galvan on April 28, 1953 in Topeka, KS.
He entered in the United States Army and served his country with pride. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Tony attended Washburn Tech. He was a longtime employee of Northrop Grumman as a Draft IV. On June 23, 1990, he married Teresa Balandran at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. They shared 30 years of marriage until Teresa’s passing on October 29, 2020.
Tony was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed volunteering with Fiesta Mexicana, active member of East Topeka NIA and spending time with community work and outreach. In his spare time, Tony’s hobbies included woodworking, walks with Teresa and cheering on his KC Chiefs and KU Jayhawks. When he was younger, he was very active playing basketball with friends and family. “Papa Tony” will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his four sons, Felix Anthony Gonzales, Leonard A. Gonzales (Misty Zappa), Peter T. Gonzales (Kim), Orlando R. Gonzales; two daughters, Diana M. Camarillo (Ricardo) and Patricia Aredondo (Gilbert); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one brother, Basilio Galvan (Cecilia); two sisters, Rachel Sangalang and Aurora Cowing (David).
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Teresa Balandran Galvan; infant sister, Maria Irene Galvan and sister, Dolores Galvan.
He will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4-7:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 5:00 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Cremation will follow after the services and inurnment with his wife Teresa will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made in Tony's loving memory to Holy Family Catholic School, 1725 NE Seward Ave., Topeka, KS 66616 and/or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 201 NE Chandler St., Topeka, KS 66616. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
